Dear Education Friends,
When we were taking our first steps towards the establishment of the Education Volunteers Foundation of Turkey 24 years ago, we perceived the main problem of our country as lack of proper education.
Our dear founder, Suna Kıraç, and many esteemed colleagues set out to contribute to the solution of this problem. Unfortunately, despite the intervening years, this problem still could not be resolved fully. Turkey remains very low in the world rankings, and there isn’t a glimmer of hope that this will change for the better in the near future.
We have now reached 72 activity points all around Turkey on our journey as TEGV, which we initiated to provide educational support for children with limited means. Near 3 million children have attended educational activities to date. All elementary education level children can attend our activities, unconditionally and for free, and they have the opportunity to improve themselves alongside our volunteers at our child-friendly locations.
We live in an age where access to information is easier than ever. Therefore, developed countries are switching to an educational system based on adopting and interpreting information. We are in need of an educational approach based not on memorizing and repetition, but on reasoning and creativity. Since its foundation, the Education Volunteers Foundation of Turkey has progressed with this perception. We strive to remove the obstacles in the minds of our children, free their ideas and trigger their creativity.
The main factor behind the value, efficiency and sustainability of Non-Governmental Organizations is, without a doubt, corporate reputation. At TEGV, we are pleased to have accomplished the aim of our founder, Suna Kıraç, in “becoming one of the most effective, prevalent and esteemed Non-Governmental Organizations of Turkey in the area of education”. We diligently maintain our efforts towards ensuring the sustainability of our operations and corporate stance.
All these efforts are purely for the glimmer in the eyes of our children who come running towards TEGV with open arms…
With love and respect,
Chairman of the Board of Directors
