A.Ümit Taftalı, who is still agent and consultant for Suna Kıraç, has been in international investment banking and consultancy for the past 30 years. He assumed senior executive positions at Merrill Lynch & Company, Bankers Trust Company and Goldman Sachs International in Atlanta, New York and London.
He has been or remains a member of the boards of trustees, boards of directors, founder or member of many foundations and associations, including the Suna-İnan Kıraç Foundation, the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV), the Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Foundation (TÜSİAD), the Saint Joseph Education Foundation, TEGV, Galatasaray Sports Club, the American Finance Association (USA), the Financial Management Association (USA), the Museum of American Financial History (USA), the BSU Foundation (USA), the Turkish Bankers Association (UK), and the USC Foundation (USA).
A.Ümit Taftalı continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of Koç Holding. In addition, he is a member of the Boards of Directors of Yapı Kredi Bank, Koç Finansal Hizmetler, Kare Portföy, Kıraça Holding and many affiliated companies.
After finishing Saint Joseph High School, he continued his education in the United States, completing his undergraduate studies at Ball State University-Indiana and his M.B.A at the University of South Carolina. He also attended senior executive programs at Harvard University. He speaks English and French.
